Pulling out My Flower

So I pulled out one of my flowers to see how the roots were looking, and to me they are looking pretty good. They are not brown and they look healthy. So this only confuses me more of why my plant hasnt made any progress in a while. Maybe it just takes a long time for the flower to grow? I have no idea but im just going to have to keep at it and hopefully Ill see results soon. The roots look exactly like the ones in this picture. Nice and healthy. I guess i just have to give it more time. 

Update

My plants are still looking the same, im starting to think that maybe the roots have died and they can not take in any more water. But before I take them out, i want to give it a little more time. Maybe one last day, one last chance for my plant to show me a sign of growth. Hopefully that will happen because I want to see the end result of my flower. Maybe Ill just pluck one little sprout out and see how that ones roots look. I will do another post on that. But for now things arent looking to great. Hopefully they dont look like this.

Final Posting

For the last time, I'm thankful that my phone gives me the date for my pictures. I've been really busy and I completely neglected my Butterfly Wildflower. I forgot to water it. Once day I came home to see how disgusting my plant looked. It turned into this moldy green color.  It was still standing tall and had leaves.  The stem grew this nasty fuzziness to it. The soil wasn't fresh and looked supper dry. The soil I used had this chemical in it to keep it moist at times. I don't think it dead because it's still standing and has leaves. Maybe it;s just sick. I think if I watered it again it might come back to it's natural color and the soil will look better. This photo was taken November 6, 2012.

Update

So im still seeing minimal progress. They seem to be the same size. I havent seen a change in about 3 weeks. It seems like theyve been on this stage for forever. Im going to continue to look after it, im going to move it into the sun again before I leave for school. Hopefully Ill see some progress soon. Im thinking they need more sunlight because Ive kept them in the house for such a long time. Ive also noticed their getting a hint of brown on all the leaves which obviously is never a good sign, hopefully all goes well for the next few weeks. This website helped me understand why my plant is turing a very light brown color.

Oh no something new is attacking my pumpkins. This was a very recent discover just two days ago I began to notice there were holes in the leaves of my pumpkins. At first I didn’t think much of it cause it was only like two holes. I simply thought that maybe it was just an accident or something just ate a few bites and left. Now though almost every leaf is having several holes in it. I am not exactly sure what type of creature is eating my plants and even if I did know I am not really sure how to deal with it. Time toGoogle it.

So unfortunately my thoughts were correct. I had hoped I was wrong but I was. I wanted to see if you could grow sunflowers from the bags of sunflower seeds that you eat but this far into the project and nothing has begun to sprout up out of the soil. I read that since the seeds are roasted it kills the seed. The only way they would grow was if you ate raw sunflower seeds. I did not plant raw seeds but lightly salted seeds that were lightly roasted. Now all I have as a result is this nice empty space in my garden.

So these pesky peacocks have not been leaving my pumpkins alone. They have actually eaten one of my pumpkin plants. So real quickly I went to The Home Depot to pick up chicken wire. Then using some poles I have managed to build a quick and very useful make shift fence. It has taken about an hour to put up since no one in my family wanted to get their hands dirty. Now that the fence is complete it should save me from having to go out and chance the peacocks for trying to eat all my pumpkins. Also I found that they find the fence so strange they don’t even go near anymore.
